About the Artist
Snuggled
in the foothills of the Smokies just south of the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park, Susan is surrounded by her inspiration.
In addition to her studio, Susan and her husband Jouard own the
custom picture framing shop "The
Country Framer."

Susan describes her work:
"Watercolors
and oils each have their own rhythm and their own tempo in
creation, and each are totally beautiful.
Paintings are not pictures,
but the expression and excitement of a passing moment.
Watercolors,
with beautiful glazes and its own freedom of expression, celebrate
a passing moment. Oils simply fill the richness of our own hearts
and make us pause and feel."
Susan has been exhibiting her work through art fairs, festivals,
libraries, universities, government buildings, and galleries
since 1982. She also teaches watercolor and handmade paper through
various institutions and privately.
Susan
is a member of the Jackson
County Visual Arts Council, the North
Carolina Watercolor Society, and Dogwood
Crafters (one of
the Southeast's finest craft co-ops). Susan
is a registered artist with Handmade
in America.
